Medical Conditions Associated with Childhood Apraxia of Speech

 

Childhood Apraxia of Speech can be associated with certain medical conditions:

    1. With conditions known to cause neurological problems and damage eg stroke,trauma, intrauterine or early childhood stroke, brain tumours, infection.
    2. In association with other childhood neurodevelopmental disorders eg Autism Spectrum Disorder, Rett Syndrome, GalactosemiaWilliams Syndrome, Down’s Syndrome, Prader-Willi Syndrome, Developmental Co-ordination Disorder and others.
    3. Idiopathic ie. No one knows why (yet).
